So I'm waiting for several processes to complete, and I just started thinking. About my indoctrination project with the nephews and nieces. We've got three to deal with here. Mat is 7, Joe is 6, and Nicole is 4. There's also Grace, but she's too young to worry about yet.

Nicole is going to be difficult, because she's Daddy's little girl, and hard to influence. My plan is to be glad she loves the Teen Titans cartoon, show her other comic book based cartoons when required, and generally wait till she has a few more years behind her.

Nephews. As readers might know, they are enthralled with the old final fantasy videogames, and can't wait till I get a playstation in order to continue playing the rest of the series. They love Ninja Turtles, and seemed interested when I told them the cartoons came from a comic book, just like the Spiderman and Justice League cartoons. I showed them what a comic book looks like, but I don't think they're ready to read one yet -- especially considering only one of them can read well.

WARNING: Joey likes Power Rangers! I've got to find a way to end that. Hmm... Power Rangers = craptacular live action bastard son of Voltron.... would finding and showing Voltron work?

How about other stuff from Japan? Like Slayers!

... whoa.. That's a plan. Slayers.

Music?

Music scares me. I just never know where to go with it. I started listening to music in highschool, but I also assume I'm different from most music people in that respect. When they're all around, I restrict playlists to Armstrong, Fitzgerald, and that area. Every so often, though, I sneak in something different. Elvis Costello, the Cure, the Ramones. Something that has enough dimension to it to allow the kids to like it even if I'm finding a deeper meaning.

Oh-God-I-Can't-Wait!
It's highly probable that they've never seen a black and white movie before. They've never seen the classic monster movies I spend much of my childhood watching. It's also pretty safe to say they have never seen a Kaijū flick, such as Godzilla or Gamera. I can't wait till they're old enough for those......

the power rangers thing is tough, but it appeals to the right kind of sensibilities in a young mind, there's swordfights and magic and superheros... think about how lame the adam west batman was but i watched it and you problably did too...

the other day while horsing around with my nephews i playd the rythm line to blitzkreig bop on there piano while they banged on random keys and was most pleased to hear danny humming it as i left... i plan to put further research into the results of subliminal influence
